History
Working in the construction industry for over 30 years, Jon Hale knows a thing or two about the importance of doing layout on job sites. The problem was that no simple all terrain handheld tool existed for creating a line—outside of a coffee can screwed to a stick or a big plastic cup with holes in the bottom. Chalking over dirt or rough terrain meant lots of bending over, and usually a sore back.
Jon was determined to build a real tool that could do the job. And do it quickly, accurately and in a way that would be easier on the back. With a design in mind, he teamed up with award-winning tool designer Christian Hansen. Today, the Lineer Layout Tool is the contractor’s choice and is the fastest, most ergonomic way to chalk a line on the job site. Recreational users are also discovering the Lineer Layout Tool, using it to chalk lines for sports practices, home projects and all sorts of other home and leisure activities.

How it Works
- Fill bucket with layout chalk or casting plaster to create a 3-1/2” wide line
- To create a 1-1/2” wide line, place the included rubber plate inside the Lineer Layout Tool bucket
- If desired, use two small dabs of construction glue or silicone to secure template to bottom of bucket
- Spike and run twine along desired line
- Hold handle and shake with a repeated up-and-down motion to release chalk
- For best results, maintain a distance of 2-4” above the ground
- Refrain from shaking to stop release of chalk
- Hold bucket steady when not chalking to avoid unwanted discharge of chalk
- Caution: Do not fill with more chalk than is physically comfortable to hold
